Cargo transportation by trucks in Iran’s Ardabil Province grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. The volume of cargo transported by trucks from Ardabil province, located in northwest Iran, increased by 10 percent during 4 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), Director General of the Road and Transportation Department of Iran's Ardabil Province Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports.

According to him, 1.52 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks from Ardabil province over the course of 4 months. However, 1.38 million tons of cargo were transported from the region during the first four months of last year.

Vosughi added that cement, gasoline, mineral water, potatoes, garlic, construction materials, iron ingots, wheat, and diesel fuel are mainly transported from the province.

The official noted that 646,000 tons of cargo were transported from the Ardabil district, 434,000 tons from the Namin district, 151,000 tons from the Parsabad district, 99,000 tons from the Bilehsuvar district, 63,000 tons from the Khalkhal district, 53,000 tons from the Meshgin Shahr district, 40,000 tons from the Ghermi district, and 37,000 tons from the Aslan Duz district.

To note, about 90 companies, 13,550 trucks, and 12,000 drivers operate in the freight transportation industry in Iran's Ardabil province.
