Kazakhstan will continue training the Kyrgyz military on a pro bono basis.
An agreement was signed by Kazakh and Kyrgyz defense ministers Adilbek Dzhaksybekov and Abibilla Kudaiberdiev in Astana today, the Kazahh Defense Ministry said. The ministers met as part of a meeting between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) defense ministers.
Training is a priority area of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz cooperation.
"Under the agreement on the training of military personnel for the CSTO member states in 1998 -2010, about 70 Kyrgyz militaries have completed higher education at the Kazakh Defense Ministry on a pro bono basis," the report reads.
More than 110 Kyrgyz soldiers study at Kazakh military educational institutions.
