The price of Kazakhstan corn for Azerbaijan will be kept at the rate of $140-145 per ton.

Ruslan Azimov, the President of Food Contract Corporation JSC, informed Trend Correspondent to Astana that the recently-spread rumors about Kazakhstan alleged price rise on corn for the Azerbaijan partners is groundless.

He said that the price on corn has been raised in the international market. The reason of the advance in the prices is the anomaly warm winter in Russia, World largest corn producer, that will certainly have its impact on the future harvest, said Mr. Azimov.

The Head of Food Contract Corporation said that a solemn ceremony on opening the new corn terminal is expected to take place in Baku till the end of January, 2007. The terminal was constructed by a Kazaklshtan-Azerbaijan joint-stock enterprise. The first stone at the corn terminal was laid in May, 2006.
