An opening ceremony of a memorial tablet to prominent Azerbaijani composer Tofig Guliyev has been held in Hussi Hajiyev Street today (October 7). The ceremony timed with his birthday, was held in front of the entrance of the building where he lived.
Prominent Azerbaijani composers Arif Malikov, Siyavush Karami, Faig Sudjaddinov, Eldar Mansurov, and others took part in the event. During addresses to the participants of the event, a great contribution of Tofig Guliyev in the formation and development of Azerbaijani music was marked. In addition, addresses to the Culture and Tourism Ministry, with a request to render assistance in staging operettas to time them to his 90-th jubilee was made.
Notably, the memorial tablet of sculptor Omar Eldarov was opened by a son of the prominent composer, film director Eldar Guliyev.
