BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 5. Azerbaijan has imported 3,080 tons of wheat flour from Russia’s Stavropol Region since the beginning of 2023, Trend reports via Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor).
According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, Azerbaijan became one of the largest importers of flour from this region.
"The Rosselkhoznadzor, when controlling shipments, selected samples to determine the quarantine phytosanitary condition of quarantined products. For example, the products should be free of peanut (Caryedon gonagra) and Brazilian legume (Zabrotes subfassiatus) grains, as well as grains of the genus Callosobruchus spp. and other quarantine objects," said the statement.
A total of 9,110 tons of flour have been exported to other countries since the beginning of the year, which is 13 percent more than the same period of the previous year.
Azerbaijan’s imports of food increased by 22.45 percent, or $433.2 million in value terms, from January through December 2022, reaching $2.36 billion.
