BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover for January 2024 has been announced, Trend reports.
Thus, goods totaling 4.5 billion manat ($2.6 billion), including food, drinks and tobacco products worth 2.5 billion manat ($1.4 billion), and non-food products worth two billion manat ($1.18 billion) were sold to consumers in the retail trade outlets.
The data of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee shows that in the reporting month, the population spent 49.9 percent of funds on food products, five percent on beverages and tobacco products, 14.3 percent on textiles, clothing and footwear, five percent on motor fuel, 4.6 percent on electrical goods and furniture, 2.4 percent on pharmaceutical goods and medicines, 1.3 percent on computers, and 17.5 percent on other non-food products.
To note, in 2023, the turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan increased by 3.7 percent compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 58.99 billion manat or $34.7 billion. The turnover of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 2.5 percent (to 33 billion manat or $19.4 billion), non-food goods - by 5.2 percent (to 26 billion manat or $15.3 billion).
