TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 11. Uzbekistan
and Saudi Arabia considered issues of further expansion of
practical interaction, Trend reports.
As part of his official visit to Riyadh, the President of the
Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Minister of
Investments of Saudi Arabia, Khalid al-Falih.
The discussions focused on the implementation of priority investment projects in Uzbekistan, in the context of fulfilling high-level agreements.
With deep satisfaction, the dynamic development of Uzbek-Saudi multi-faceted cooperation in recent years was noted. The volume of mutual trade, the scale of cooperation, and the frequency of air travel have all been increasing. It is expected that by the end of the current year, around $2.5 billion in investments from Saudi companies will be attracted to Uzbekistan.
The importance of advancing promising projects in sectors such as green energy, healthcare, transportation infrastructure modernization, heat and water supply, agriculture, and housing and communal services was emphasized.
In this regard, the necessity of thorough preparation for the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent was highlighted.
At the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, President Mirziyoyev arrived in the Kingdom on November 11 for a working visit. An extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit is being held in Riyadh.
On November 12-13, at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, the Uzbek leader will participate in the events of the 29th session (COP29) of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
