BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. The volume of trade operations between Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to $157.2 million from January through March 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee shows that this is $22.3 million, or 16.5 percent more than the same months of 2024.
During the reporting period, trade turnover with the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to 1.30 percent of Azerbaijan's total trade turnover.
Azerbaijan's exports to the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to $4.9 million from January through March of the current year. This is by $1.7 million or 50.7 percent more than the same period last year.
Meanwhile, during the reporting period, Azerbaijan's import operations from the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to $248.8 million, which is $20.6 million or 15.7 percent more than the same period of 2024.
In 2024, the volume of trade transactions between the two countries amounted to $647.1 million, which is $159.7 million or 32.8 percent more than in 2023.
Last year, trade turnover with the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to 1.36 percent of Azerbaijan's total trade turnover.
Thus, last year, Azerbaijan's exports of products to the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to $14 million. This is $299,000 or 2.1 percent less than in the same period of 2023.
However, in 2024, Azerbaijan's import operations from the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to $633.1 million, which is $160 million or 33.8 percent more than the same period of 2023.
Consequently, the statistics of recent years show that the trade turnover of the two countries is developing on an upward trend.
