Currently, the current security management system in the subway has no alternatives, Baku metro head Tagi Ahmadov said at a press conference held in the ruling party New Azerbaijan Party's (NAP) headquarters.
"There is no perfect device to check passengers in the subway right now and even if such a device was, I have no doubt that the state would purchase these devices," Ahmadov said.
Currently, passing and checking of passengers is controlled through one entrance at stations with low passenger traffic and stations with high passenger traffic is controlled through two entrances. At the same time passengers with hand baggage are checked with special detectors, he said.
The use of vehicles which currently used in airports is impractical because every day Baku Metro serves to about 600,000-650,000 passengers, he said.
"Devices used at airports require very careful inspection which may lead to a significant reduction in passenger traffic in the subway," Ahmadov said.
