Rates of turnover and transport of passengers at the Georgian international airports increased. Georgian Unified Transport Administration Head Levan Chichinadze announced the data for the first quarter of 2010.
In the first quarter, the number of passengers transported through the Georgian international airports increased by 14,899 people compared to the same period of 2009. If in the first quarter of 2009, the figure was 138,843 passengers, then in 2010 the figure hit 153,742 (10.7 percent).
In 2009, there was transported 772,270 passengers and the forecast for 2010 is 815, 400 passengers.
Regarding cargo transportations, the figure increased by 774 tons compared to the same period of 2009. In the first quarter of 2010 the volume of cargo transportations was 2,969 tons compared to 2,195 tons in the same period of 2009.
In 2009, the volume of cargo transportations was 1,127 tons and the forecast for 2010 is 19,207 tons.
