Iran imports from UAE rise by 95 percent

Iran imported 2.636 million tons of goods worth $3.367 billion from the United Arab Emirates in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - June 20).

The figure shows 162.83 and 94.63 percent increase in terms of weight and value, respectively.

According to Iran's Customs Administration, China was the second biggest exporter of goods to Iran in the mentioned period.

Tehran imported some $2.749 billion from Beijing in the first quarter, which is 70.83 percent more than same period of time previous year.

The imported goods from China weighed 1.152 million tons, which shows 69.94 percent increase compared to last year.

China was also the main destination for Iranian non-oil goods in the first quarter.

Iran exported some 7.361 million tons of goods worth $2.137 billion to China in the mentioned time span.

India with $1.016 billion, Turkey with $850 million, and South Korea with $808 were the other main exporters of goods to Iran.

Tehran's foreign trade amounted to $24.245 billion in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - June 20). The country's non-oil exports accounted for $11.859 billion of the mentioned amount.

Tehran also imported $12.386 billion worth of goods in the spring, which is 35.63 percent more than last year.

According to Iran Customs Administration, the country's total non-oil exports to foreign countries (excluding gas condensates) stood at $31.332 billion in previous year (which ended on March 20), while the country's total imports amounted to $50.818 billion.

The figures mark annual trade balance of -19.486 billion dollars for Iran.

Iran's annual trade turnover is projected to reach $160 billion by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (March 2016).
