Promoting domestic production, especially in the private sector, is the main solution to confront the sanctions, said the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani, Trend reports via IRNA.
"The domestic production sector can be sustainable despite sanctions , as we have witnessed growth and new capacities in the industry," said Rahmani.
He went on to say that a total of 62 percent of Iran's tax income depends on production and industrial sectors, so any tax evasion here should be confronted.
"The necessary measures have been taken to support domestic production, including plans to assign bank sources, technical development to solve the remaining obstacles," he added.
"There has been an agreement with the oil ministry, valued at $1 billion, to produce basic materials for graphite electrode in the country," he said referring to some of the plans for self-sufficiency in industrial sector.
"Proper measures have been taken in the car making and car part manufacturing sectors in recent months. All the produced vehicles have been delivered to customers," Rahmani said.
He added that so far imports of 1,600 items of goods have been banned since there is capacity to produce the similar products domestically, however in case of need Iran would support and manage the import of certain products," he added.
