Largest private sector’s copper cathode plant launched in Iran

The largest copper cathode plant owned by private sector in Iran was put into operation in the Qazvin Province (northern Iran) today on Apr. 1, Executive Director of Tarom Copper Industries Company Karamatollah Hosseini, Trend reports citing the IRINN.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of several industrial and mining facilities in Iran.

Hosseini said that the plant will produce 10,000 tons of copper cathode annually. And 450 people will be employed with the launch of this plant.

Hosseini added that a total of $5 million and 2.5 billion rials (about $59.5 million) was spent on the construction and launch of the plant.

According to the director, more than $80 million a year will come from the plant.

“The reserves of the Tarom Copper Industries Company’s mine amounted 4.2 million tons,” he noted.

On April 1, several industrial and mining facilities were put into operation in five provinces of Iran. More than 45 trillion rials (about $1.07 billion) have been spent on these facilities.
