Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan look to enter International Gas Union

The International Gas Union (IGU) invited Central Asia gas-producing states Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to join.

IGU Secretary General Torshtein Indrebo sounded the proposal during the "Turkmenistan Oil and Gas 2009" conference.

Turkmenistan possess the largest gas reserves in Central Asia

Turkmenistan could influence the global energy market by developed the accompanying infrastructure, Indrebo underscored.

IGU, which was established in 1931, unites gas industry enterprises and organizations across the world.

The World Gas Congress (WGC) is held under the aegis of IGU every three years. The WGC is a forum presenting research into the impact of energy production on the environment, gas transport, storage, distribution and consumption, and gas industry development prospects.
