SOCAR to increase number of gas stations in Azerbaijan

SOCAR Petroleum (subsidiary of SOCAR) will increase the number of gas stations in Azerbaijan to 80-100 units within ten years, SOCAR Petroleum first deputy head Mulayim Safarov said on Monday.
He said until late 2011, the number of gas stations under SOCAR brand in Baku and surrounding settlements will be increased to 20 units from current 11 gas stations.
The company also considers opening of gas stations in the country's regions. In particular, the gas stations will be located at major highways. Location of stations will be determined after appropriate market research, Safarov said.
SOCAR Petroleum shareholders are SOCAR (51 percent) and the American A.P. International (49 percent). SOCAR Petroleum was registered on Jan. 21, 2008.
At present, SOCAR has more than 60 gas stations in Georgia. It gradually opens filling stations in Ukraine. It also operates to work filling stations in Romania.
