From the commencement of oil export via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline over 17mln bbl of oil have been pumped through, Trend reports with reference to BP Azerbaijan, the pipeline operator. This, said BP officials, makes up 25 tanker loads.
787,011 ton of oil were transported via BTC pipeline in July alone (compared to 422,889 ton in June), said officials of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.
BTC pipeline is able to pump over 50mln ton of oil a year. At the moment only light oil from ACG field is pumped through it. Further, BTC is planned to receive oil from Kazakh fields Tengiz and Kashagan.
The oil quality bank setup by BTC Co will regulate the outgoing oil quality in port Ceyhan and provide a mutual settlement mechanism for shippers of oil of different quality. Only the oils of sorts meeting quality bank requirements will be approved for pumping via BTC. The Bank specifications are defined so that to provide an advantage to the BTC Blend crude oil formed as a result of various oils blending.
