Germany will provide Uzbekistan with targeted financing for 2021 in the amount of 61 million euros, for the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan in several areas, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
It is reported that negotiations were held on financial and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany, organized in the format of a videoconference by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) together with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.
According to MIFT, the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Shukhrat Vafayev, heads of relevant ministries and departments of Uzbekistan, as well as the leadership of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other authorized bodies of Germany.
It is noted that the key issue on the agenda of the talks was the coordination of promising areas for further bilateral financial and technical cooperation, as well as comprehensive support provided by Germany for the implementation of socio-economic projects in Uzbekistan.
It was announced that Uzbekistan was determined the only partner country in the Central Asian region in accordance with the new Strategy-2030 of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.
The German delegation said that in order to successfully implement this strategy, as well as facilitate the implementation of joint projects, the German side decided to appoint a special representative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development at the Embassy of Germany in Tashkent.
Also, the German side supported the proposals of the Uzbek side on the direction of new funding for the implementation of projects in the fields of vocational education, lending to small and medium-sized businesses, creating new jobs, improving plant quarantine services, the health care system and other areas.
Following the discussion, the issue was agreed on the allocation by Germany for 2021 of targeted financing for Uzbekistan in the amount of 61 million euros, including 23.5 million euros in the form of concessional loans and 37.5 million euros in the form of grants and technical assistance for implementation of eight projects in Uzbekistan in the mentioned areas.
