UniNet expands ADSL coverage zone

Next DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) UniNet is placed at automatic telephone exchange-406. It will allow rendering services of broadband access to Internet on ADSL technology on telephone stations coverage zone, the company said.

UniNet plans to rather increase coverage zone due to installed equipment rendering services of broadband access al over Baku. At present, the service is rendered in 75 at automatic telephone exchanges in Baku.

Expansion of ADSL coverage zone is explained by constantly increasing demand for broadband access. The company plans to expand geographic presence with active promotion of this service in the nearest future.

Tariffs on this kind of service are expected to be reduced in the nearest future. So, next reduction is expected to be made in September in accordance with statements of the communication and IT ministry. According to preliminary information, tariffs on ADSL access will be reduced 30-50 percent. At present, certain agreements on reduction of prices were reached with several initial providers.

Prices for broadband Internet in Azerbaijan are considered as average in the region. But taking into account high business activity, tariffs on access to global internet will be reduced stage-by-stage in future.   

Tariffs to put into exploitation intra-urban digital channels (ports) with speed of 2 Mbit/s were reduced from 1,200 to 600 manat (50 percent) for other organizations (except for budget organizations) early 2009 in accordance with the made decision. But tariffs for monthly use of these channels were reduced from 320 to 300 manat (6.3 percnet).
