BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 8. Kazakh exporters of fertilizer are set to boost fertilizer shipments through Baltic countries' ports, according to the information obtained by Trend from Argus analytical agency.
As noted by the analytical agency, from January through March of the current year, fertilizer shipments via rail to the Baltic region increased to 7,400 tons, compared to 5,000 tons during the same period in 2022. Last year, a total of 18,800 tons of fertilizers were shipped to Baltic ports, with further exportation via maritime transport.
Furthermore, it was noted that Kazakhstan's Kazphosphate plans to construct a warehouse for the accumulation and storage of fertilizers in one of Latvia's ports this year. These volumes are subsequently intended for shipment to global markets.
In addition, Kazakh ammonium phosphate may be transported to Türkiye by road. Test batches are planned to be shipped by trucks during the summer.
Moreover, the shipment of Kazakh ammonium phosphate to Afghanistan is envisaged. From January through March of the current year, Kazphosphate did not supply ammonium phosphate to Afghanistan via rail, whereas 1,100 tons were exported to the country in the first quarter of the previous year. In total, 22,500 tons of fertilizers were exported from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan in 2022, compared to 7,200 tons a year before.
