Increasing the level of financial and economic literacy of the population is an urgent task, Chairperson of the Kyrgyz State Service of the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Yuruslan Toichubekov said at an OSCE conference on economic education.

"The conference will enable exchange of experiences, which will help us develop a large-scale efficient program to raise the level of financial literacy of population of Kyrgyzstan which would cover all groups and come to each and every family," he said speaking at the conference.

Knowledge and access to reliable economic and financial information strengthens people's awareness, potential contribution to society and their own choices and opportunities, Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, Ambassador Andrew Tesoriere said.

"This in turn strengthens national prosperity, stability and can reduce poverty," he noted.
