BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 9. The total wheat harvest in Kyrgyzstan has reached 659,400 tons as of September 9, 2024, which is an increase of 252,200 tons compared to 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, the wheat has been harvested from 223,200 hectares, 52,600 hectares more than the previous year. The yield stands at 29.5 centners per hectare, which is 5.7 centners per hectare higher than in 2023.
In the Jalal-Abad, Talas, and Issyk-Kul regions, wheat yields range from 30.0 to 33 centners per hectare.
Additionally, barley production has increased to 529,900 tons, up by 135,700 tons from the previous year. Corn production has also grown, with a total harvest of 116,100 tons, an increase of 5,800 tons compared to 2023.
Currently, 443,000 hectares have been harvested in Kyrgyzstan, which is 74 percent of the planned area and 80,200 hectares more than last year.
