A regional seminar on international trade statistics, organized by the UN Statistics Division, UN Development Program (UNDP) and Turkmenistan’s State Statistics Committee, will be held Sept. 27-29 in Ashgabat.
Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news service reported Sept. 27 that representatives of statistical services of Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and specialists of state economy and trade structures of Kazakhstan and India are taking part in the seminar.
In his welcome speech, Director of the UN Statistics Division Stefan Schweinfest noted the importance of international trade statistics for monitoring the economic growth and evaluation of structural changes.
Basic principles of international statistics on services trade, recommendations on tourism statistics, methodology of collecting statistical data on international trade of goods, assessment of balance of payments, statistical business registry and other topics will be discussed during the seminar.
