TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 16. Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region plans to harvest about 115 thousand tons of grapes from August through November 2023, which is 10 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports.
Currently, 18,900 hectares of land are used for grape plantations on all agricultural farms in the Tashkent region. Uzbekistan plans to create plantations on another 20,000 hectares in the Bekabad, Parkent, Yangiyul, Zangiata, Akhangaran, Tashkent, Kibray, and Urtachirchik districts of the Tashkent region from 2024 through 2025.
Thus, the total area of grape plantations in the region will reach 38,000 hectares, which will increase the yield by three times and amount to 500,000 tons.
As per data by Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, the volume of grape harvest amounted to 50,000 tons from January through June 2023, which is 2.7 percent more than in the same period of 2022. The country exported some 12,800 tons of grapes worth $10.7 million from January through March 2023, which is an increase of 38.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
