Iran's Hormozgan Province records increase in cargo handling

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the western ports of Hormozgan Province in Southern Iran has increased by 4 percent during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025), compared to the same period of the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024), Murtaza Salari, Head of the western ports administration in Hormozgan, told reporters, Trend reports.

Salari pointed out that over 12 million tons of cargo crossed the docks during the 11-month stretch.

He also reported that over six million tons of oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded at these ports, marking a 12 percent increase compared to last year.

Additionally, non-oil goods handling amounted to over 6 million tons, with significant exports of fruits, vegetables, mining minerals, and construction materials.

"Of the exported products, nearly 2.95 million tons were non-oil products and 3.03 million tons were oil and oil products," Salari added.

To note, a total of ten ports are operating in the west of Iran's Hormozgan province. Among these ports, Lengeh, Charak, Siri, and Lavan ports are the most active.
