West was trying to deprive Iran of its peaceful nuclear activities, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said, IRNA reported.
The speaker made the remarks in an interview with the Channel II of Iran's state television broadcast Tuesday evening.
Referring to the demand of the Group 5+1 member states for resumption of talks with the Iranian side, Larijani said that correspondence and holding negotiations were political tactics.
Previous experiences have shown that the other side (western states) was trying to deprive Iran from its peaceful nuclear activities, said the speaker.
He stressed that Tehran was pursuing a completely reasonable strategy concerning its nuclear issue.
Iran has turned to a nuclear country with peaceful activities, Larijani stressed.
The West accuses Iran of seeking nuclear arms. Iran denies the allegation and insists that its enrichment activities only seek peaceful purposes and power generation.
