Georgia shares data on annual inflation rate

Annual inflation rate in Georgia in September 2021 amounted to 12.3 percent, Trend reports via the Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The consumer price index increased by 0.2 percent over the reporting period, compared to August 2021, Geostat reports.

Regarding with the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 6.3 percent, with the annual core inflation without tobacco amounting to 6.3 percent as well, the report said.

The annual inflation rate was mostly influenced by price changes for the following groups:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages (15.9 percent increase, contributing 4.99 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate);

Transport (20.3 percent increase, contributing 2.47 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);

Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (11.8 percent increase, contributing 1.74 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);

Health (9.2 percent increase, contributing 0.72 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate).

The monthly inflation rate for September 2021 was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:

Education (4.3 percent increase, contributing 0.18 percentage points to the overall monthly index change);

Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.2 percent increase, contributing 0.07 percentage points to the overall monthly index change).
