Two journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency and a photojournalist from Getty Images missing since Friday in eastern Libya were detained by Moamer Gaddafi's forces, dpa reported according to AFP.
The group's driver told the agency Gaddafi loyalists had detained Dave Clark, a Briton and Roberto Schmidt, a German-Colombian photographer, both from AFP, together with Joe Raedle, an American working for Getty, near Ajdabiya, south of Benghazi.
Ajdabiya forms the eastern front in the fighting between Gaddafi loyalists and rebels fighting Gaddafi's rule.
The journalists ran into a column of army jeeps on the road. When they tried to get away the troops gave chase, ordered the journalists out of their car at gunpoint and whisked them away in a military vehicle, AFP said.
French journalists covering the Libyan conflict have been wary of Gaddafi's forces, since their country took the lead in calling for a no-fly zone over Libya and airstrikes against the regime.
French-based media rights watchdog Reporters without Borders said four Al Jazeera journalists were also being held by Gaddafi's forces, along with several Libyan journalists.
An Al Jazeera cameraman was killed by Gaddafi loyalists earlier this month.
