Pakistan has rejected reports of detaining a militant commander in a joint Pakistani-US intelligence operation in the port city of Karachi, Press TV reported.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday branded the reports recently published by the prominent American daily, the New York Times, as untrue and media propaganda.
Malik said Pakistan is a sovereign state and would therefore never allow American intelligence services to carry out joint operations within the country.
The US media have cited Washington officials as saying that pro-Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was arrested in a joint US-Pakistani intelligence operation in Karachi a few days ago.
The media report also quoted US officials as saying that the commander has been in Pakistan's custody for several days and is being interrogated by both American and Pakistani intelligence officials.
