Small jet plane lost in Xinjiang, 3 on board

Rescue helicopters have been sent on Tuesday morning to search for a small jet plane believed to have crashed in the Hejing County in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Xinhua reported according to the regional government.

With three on board, the survey jet plane, belonging to the Ministry of Land and Resources, took off on 16 p.m. on Monday at Korla Airport and was expected to return by 20 p.m., said authority with Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Bayingolin of Xinjiang.

The jet plane was out of contact at 19:45 on Monday. It is estimated that its fuel had been exhausted, and it may have crashed or succeeded in a forced landing.

The jet, modeled 7026, was made by the Zhong Fei General Aviation Company in China.
