Turkish president calls for Syrian counterpart to be reform-minded

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has sent a letter to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In his letter, Gul advised al-Assad to be a reform-minded leader, rather than an obstacle to the changes occurring in the Arab world, the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported.

More than 1,000 people were killed in Syria during the clashes with the army as the people demanded the resignation of the president.

According to the authorities, this figure is less than 100 people.

Only members of terrorist groups were killed. No civilians are among killed, the authorities said.

Saudi Arabia , Kuwait and Bahrain withdrew their ambassadors from the country yesterday as a sign of protest against the situation in Syria.
