Armenian armed forces opened fire at positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces located in the village of Mundjuglu, Tovuz region from sites located in the village Aygedzor of Armenia's Berd region yesterday and last night.
At the same time, the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces were subjected to shots from positions located near the occupied villages Gulustan, Tapgaragoyunlu in Geranboy region and Shikhlar in Agdam region, as well as from the positions on the nameless heights, Azerbaijani Defence Ministry's press service told Trend on Monday.
The shooting was countered by return fire.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
The Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts- 20 percent of Azerbaijan - are under occupation of Armenian armed forces.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are holding still unsuccessful peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
