According to the Iranian Medical Examination Organization's official statistics, there were 218 deaths resulting from carbon monoxide poisoning and 552 deaths caused by fires during the first three months of the year (began March 21 in Iran), the Iranian İSNA news agency reported.
This figure rose by 50 percent since the corresponding period last year, when there were 145 victims of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Carbon monoxide poisoning cases in Iran are witnessed mainly in Tehran and the Alborz provinces.
