New Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhundov in a meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki submitted a copy of his credentials to him, Irna reported.
Mottaki expressed pleasure with the presence of Azerbaijan Republic new ambassador here and said he hope that a new development in political, economic and cultural affairs between the two countries would start, the foreign ministry reported.
Akhundov was appointed Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran in November.
Mottaki said that the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister's Iran visit will be in the framework of strengthening relations.
He said that Novruz holiday play an important role in creating friendship and solidarity among regional countries, "We intend to hold Novruz holiday programs with the participation of regional countries to strengthen ties between nations of the region," he said adding that such steps can strengthen friendly, sincere and peaceful ties among these nations.
Akhundov expressed hope that he would be able to take long steps towards deepening bilateral relations during his tenure.
The sides also discussed details of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov's Iran visit scheduled for Dec.14.
