Azerbaijan has achieved positive results in combating corruption, the chief adviser to the OECD Secretariat of the Anti-Corruption Network Olga Savran and expert of the organization Daniel Thelesklaf said during a hearing of the final report on Azerbaijan by the Istanbul Action Plan Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), held at the scientific and educational center of the General Prosecutor's Office, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported on July 29.

Recommendations were made to investigate corruption and strengthening actions in the investigation of crime, as well as regulatory issues on which there is a contradiction. All these issues in the Istanbul Action Plan were included in a new report, adopted March 31, 2010.
The event was attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, MPs and NGO representatives.

The head of the anti-corruption department under the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said that Azerbaijan has been cooperating with the OECD since 2003. "During this period, very valuable recommendations were given to Azerbaijan. The OECD and the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) recommendations were reflected in the relevant decrees and orders signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Consistent works were done in this regard," said Aliyev.

Member of the Azerbaijani anti-corruption commission, MP Bakhtiyar Aliyev said at the event that valuable recommendations were made.
"Azerbaijan has implemented a State anti-corruption program, created a progressive legislative framework, extensive cooperation with international organizations and the media," said Aliyev.
An exchange of views was held, answers were given to the questions.
