BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 26.The EU mission in Armenia does not contribute to the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, during the weekly briefing, the head of the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova told Trend.

"Certainly, no efforts by the mission has been initiated in the way of contribution to the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. Nor has the mission acted towards the elimination of the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in any form. All this confirms our assessment that one of the main mechanisms of de-escalation should be the work of the bilateral commission on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. We welcome its fourth meeting, which took place on July 12 after a long break. We confirm our readiness to provide advisory assistance to the parties," she said.

A new EU mission of 100 people with a two-year mandate was placed in Armenia on February 20, 2023.

In addition, the EU Council's Political Affairs and Security Committee recently approved Canada's proposal to support the EU observation mission in Armenia.
