The Government of Azerbaijan adopted the Regulations of the National mechanism of work with victims of human trafficking.
The main purpose of the National mechanism of work with the victims of human trafficking is to establish an effective system to protect the rights of victims and their security, repatriation, social rehabilitation and creation of rules in this regard, a at the Cabinet of Ministers told Trend .
The Regulations envisage establishing an inter-departmental commission for the implementation of the National mechanism of working with the victims of human trafficking.
The commission will consist of representatives from the Interior Ministry, National Security Ministry, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Prosecutor's Office, State Customs Committee, State Committee for Family, Women and Children, State Border Service, State Migration Service.
The inter-departmental commission will implement the National mechanism of work with victims of human trafficking.
Commission meetings will be held at least once a year at the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking.
In order to protect the rights of victims of human trafficking, the regulations envisage taking several measures. According to the document, the National Coordinator can appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers for grants for financing legal assistance provided to the victims.
Providing of free medical service to the victims will be organized by the Ministry of Health. Any medical examination of victims, except cases provided by law, will be realized only on the basis of their consent.
Psychological assistance must be provided to the victims. They are entitled to receive compensation, filing a law suit for compensation for material and moral damage inflicted as a result of the crime.
According to the regulations stipulated in the legislation, the Fund of Assistance for Human Trafficking Victims, which was established under the Interior Ministry of Internal, shall pay compensation to the victims in this category. The compensation is payable irrespective of the presence or absence of victim's cooperation with law-enforcement agencies.
Damage to the victims of human trafficking shall be covered using the property of human traffickers and if this property is not enough, through the Assistance Fund.
