ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 7. Over the previous five years, Kazakhstan's energy consumption has climbed by 12 percent, with two-thirds of it coming from household and industrial sectors, Trend reports.
This was observed during the VI International Forum entitled "Energy-efficient Partnership: The New Reality," held today in Astana. At the ceremony, Zhannat Dubirova, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, presented the opening address. The deputy minister emphasized that Kazakhstan's economic expansion is perpetually escalating the demand for energy resources. Kazakhstan is enacting specific strategies to enhance energy efficiency across multiple economic sectors.
Zhannat Dubirova disseminated details regarding operational instruments, including the State Energy Registry, energy audits, and five-year energy efficiency action plans. Between 2015 and 2023, more than 2,000 energy audits were performed under the State Energy Registry, yielding energy efficiency initiatives valued at $886 million and generating savings of $258 million. The energy intensity of the industrial sector has decreased by 48 percent.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that Kazakhstan is ranked 35th globally in electricity usage. The per capita power consumption for each country is determined using population figures, considering the import and export of electricity.
