ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 27. Kazakhstan and Nigeria are establishing new cooperation in the fields of space technology, e-government, and fintech, Trend reports.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov held a meeting with the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy of Nigeria, Bosun Tijani, which discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of space technologies, e-government, and fintech solutions.

The Kazakh side expressed its readiness to share its experience in the development of digital platforms, the implementation of e-government, and advanced fintech solutions. The parties agreed to develop joint initiatives and work on specific projects in the digital sphere.

In addition, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Anuarbek Akhmetov, met with representatives of the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during which they discussed ways to enhance business contacts between the business communities of the two countries. The participants agreed to develop a mechanism to assist Kazakh and Nigerian companies in entering each other's markets and to explore initiatives for the development of joint ventures.

The Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "Kazakh Invest," Madiyar Sultanbek, held negotiations with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, during which the sides exchanged experiences on attracting foreign investments and discussed promising areas of cooperation. He also met with the leadership of the Nigerian Ministry of Financial Integration, which manages the country's state assets. During the meeting, the Nigerian side expressed particular interest in financing tools through development institutions and models for the effective management of state-owned enterprises.

Furthermore, as part of the visit, B2B meetings were held between Kazakh and Nigerian entrepreneurs. The discussions focused on opportunities for expanding trade, launching joint projects, and localizing production in energy, mining, finance, transportation, logistics, and agriculture.

During the visit of the Kazakh delegation, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and "Taj" Bank of Nigeria, which provides for the registration of the bank's branch in the AIFC and the commencement of cooperation in Islamic finance. In addition, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" and "Suburban Broadband Limited," which outlines cooperation in the field of space activities.

The volume of joint investments between Kazakhstan and Nigeria increased significantly in 2024. Specifically, total investments in projects related to space technologies, digital economy, and fintech reached about $200 million.
