ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 13. At the CERAWeek 2025 international energy conference, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev met with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, Trend reports.

The meeting focused on diversifying routes for transporting Kazakh oil, with Minister Satkaliyev emphasizing the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) and seeking U.S. support for its development.

Other key topics included joint oil and gas projects, strengthening the Strategic Energy Dialogue (SED), and cooperation in green energy. They discussed reducing greenhouse gas emissions, developing renewable energy sources, civilian nuclear energy, and the extraction of critical materials. Kazakhstan expressed interest in the U.S. experience with Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).

The ministers also reviewed projects at Kashagan, Tengiz, and Karachaganak, with Kazakhstan highlighting the need for U.S. investment and technology.

"Kazakhstan and the U.S. are strategic partners in energy. We value our cooperation and see potential for further expansion, especially in 'green' energy and new technologies. Together, we can help ensure global energy security and sustainable development," said Minister Satkaliyev.

The parties also discussed the impact of sanctions on Kazakhstan’s oil supplies to global markets.
