BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Azerbaijan increased exports of ferrous metals and related products in the first quarter of the year, Trend reports, citing the State Customs Committee.

From January through March, the country exported 20,300 tons of ferrous metals and products made from them, valued at $24.9 million.

The data also showed growth in exports of aluminum and related products compared to the same period last year, rising by 19.1% in value terms and 10% in volume.

Ferrous metals and products accounted for 0.46% of Azerbaijan’s total exports during the reporting period and 2.89% of the non-oil sector.

Meanwhile, imports of ferrous metals and related products declined over the same period. Azerbaijan imported 248,100 tons valued at $271.6 million, marking a 1.7% decrease in value and an 11.2% drop in volume year over year.

These products made up 6.78% of the country’s total imports in the first quarter, according to the committee.
