ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 17. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektanov visited Zhambyl region with a working trip, and reviewed the socio-economic development of the region, Trend reports.
On the territory of the industrial trade and logistics complex “Alatau,” the Prime Minister familiarized himself with the work carried out in the region to create new points of economic growth. In the Kordai district, the territory of the industrial trade and logistics complex (ITLC) adjacent to the checkpoint “Karasu” from the side of Kazakhstan and the checkpoint “Ak-Tilek” from the side of Kyrgyzstan was visited.
"The project is being implemented within the framework of the tasks set by the heads of the two states, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sadyr Japarov, to increase mutual trade turnover to $3 billion. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, Rapil Zhoshybaev, and the Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bakyt Sydykov, spoke about the ongoing joint work," the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said.
According to Zhoshybaev, infrastructure is being created for cooperative projects in the fields of dairy, meat, berry-vegetable, textile, pharmaceutical production, and others.
Meanwhile, the director of the managing company of the industrial complex, Romsey Holdings KZ LLP, Abzal Mynbaev, reported on the work being done to attract investments to the ITLC area and plans to open production facilities in Kazakhstan for the processing of agricultural products, food-grade plastic, cable production, and porcelain tableware. He noted that the total investment for these projects amounts to approximately 40 billion tenge (around $76 million).
"President Tokayev, at a recent meeting, set the task of not reducing the pace of the country's economic growth and the volume of attracted investments. The creation of a large-scale industrial trade and logistics complex will allow us to develop both industrial production and establish an effective system for the distribution of finished products, as well as create new jobs. In this regard, it is important to proactively work through the entire chain from investments to deliveries. To support the project, it is necessary to resolve engineering infrastructure issues as soon as possible," emphasized Olzhas Bektanov.
The Prime Minister also reviewed the development of the region's construction industry through the example of the KORCEM cement plant.
"The production capacity of the enterprise, launched last year, is 1.3 million tons of cement per year. The products are sold on the domestic market and also exported to Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. Stanislav Shcherbakov, the deputy director-general of KORCEM LLP, informed about the use of advanced technologies in production, including systems for increased emission filtration and dust collection devices. According to international standards, the plant has implemented an intelligent DCS system," the press service added.
The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Industry and Construction to assist the plant in saturating the domestic market with Kazakhstani cement and expanding export markets.
The gross regional product of the Zhambyl region amounted to 2.2 trillion tenge (approximately $4.18 billion) by the end of last year. The volume of industrial production reached 188 billion tenge (around $357 million), of which 122.5 billion tenge (about $233 million) came from the manufacturing sector.
