ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 22. The oil production company of Kazakhstan, "Karazhanbasmunai," is implementing a project to introduce a safer and more environmentally friendly method for studying subsoil, Trend reports via Samruk-Kazyna.
"Seismic exploration with impulse sources significantly reduces the time and costs of fieldwork, enhances the detail of geological structure, and improves the quality of seismic data," the press service of Samruk-Kazyna noted.
According to the information, the project is aimed at confirming additional reserves and bringing up to 2 million tons of oil into the Karazhanbas field, which is estimated to increase revenue to 187.8 billion tenge (about $356.8 million) over the next five years.
Meanwhile, unlike traditional explosive methods, which can have a negative impact on the environment, the new technology is safe and can operate in hard-to-reach areas.
Upon completion of the project, it is planned to consider the possibility of scaling this technology for particularly sensitive natural areas, including the Caspian Sea transit ecological zone.
Karazhanbasmunai JSC is a major oil-producing company in Kazakhstan, located on the Buzachi Peninsula in the Mangistau region, approximately 230 km from the city of Aktau. The company has been extracting oil from the field of the same name since 1974, when the first oil fountain was obtained from a depth of 300 meters.
