BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. Azerbaijan's non-oil exports grew by 14.7 percent, reaching $771.9 million, in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period of 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the “export review” published by the Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms shows that in the reporting period, food products increased by 15.1 percent, reaching $224.7 million.
During this period, exports of precious and semi-precious stones and metals increased by $46.7 million or 3.4 times, exports of ferrous metals and their products by $9.1 million or 76.8 percent, chemical industry products by $21.9 million or 33.4 percent, sugar by $976,300 or 18.8 percent, fruits and vegetables by $20.8 million or 15.7 percent, aluminum and its products by $4.9 million or 10.2 percent, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by $724,000 or 5.7 percent, tea by $74,100 or 5.1 percent, plant and animal fats and oils by $237,900 or 4.2 percent, and cotton yarn by $22,100 or 0.4 percent.
In the first quarter of 2025, agricultural products increased by 12.3 percent, reaching $170.5 million, and agri-industrial products increased by 17.6 percent, reaching $69.1 million. In total, the joint export of agricultural and agri-industrial products increased by 13.8 percent, amounting to $239.6 million.
In the period mentioned, the list of non-oil sector exports included gold ($65.2 million) in first place. Urea ($48 million) ranked second, and tomatoes ($44.6 million) were third.
In March 2025, the list of non-oil sector exports included gold ($25 million) in first place, tomatoes ($17.8 million) in second place, and cotton ($15.9 million) in third place.
In the first three months of this year, $232.9 million worth of non-oil sector products were exported to Russia, $134.3 million to Türkiye, $80.6 million to Georgia, $69.6 million to Switzerland, and $51.1 million to Ukraine.
In March 2025, non-oil sector products worth $82.1 million were exported to Russia, $51.5 million to Türkiye, $27.7 million to Georgia, $26 million to Switzerland, and $10.7 million to the UAE.
In the ranking of non-state exporters for the first quarter of 2025, the following companies are represented in the top 10: MKT Production Commercial LLC, Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited Representative Office, Azerbaijan, Baku Steel Company CJSC, P-AQRO LLC, LEPIN LM LLC, Avrora LLC, Export Stream Limited Liability Company, KHAN-EL LLC, BINE AGRO CJSC, and Sahdag Sy LLC.
In non-oil sector export operations, the list of state-owned companies was headed by the Marketing and Economic Operations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). Following that, the companies represented in this list include: SOCAR Polymer LLC, AzerGold JSC, Azeraluminium LLC, Gas Export Department of SOCAR, Azerpambig Agro-Industrial Complex LLC, Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, Azerenergy OJSC, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic State Energy Service, and Garadagh Glass Factory OJSC.
In the first quarter of 2025, the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos) exported satellite telecommunications services worth $4 million to nearly 100 companies in 40 countries. The revenue from Azercosmos's service exports accounted for 65 percent of its total revenue. In March 2025, Azercosmos exported services worth $1.3 million to 39 countries.
In the first quarter of 2025, the top five countries in satellite telecommunications service exports were: $1 million to the UK, $890,300 to Luxembourg, $213,400 to Nigeria, $179,000 to Egypt, and $174,000 to Pakistan.
