BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 14. Natural gas production from the “Shah Deniz” field in Azerbaijan totaled 9 billion cubic meters from January through April 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Energy indicates that this figure reflects a decrease of 200 million cubic meters, or 1.5 percent, compared to the same period in 2024 (9.2 billion cubic meters).
In total, the gas production during the reporting period included 4.5 billion cubic meters from the ACG field, 9 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz field, and 0.5 billion cubic meters from the Absheron field. Additionally, SOCAR's share of the production was approximately 2.7 billion cubic meters.
Regarding exports, Azerbaijan sold a total of 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas abroad during the reporting period. Of this, 4 billion cubic meters were sold to Europe, 3.1 billion cubic meters to Turkey (including 1.9 billion cubic meters through the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP)), and 0.9 billion cubic meters to Georgia.
Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli (ACG, Azerbaijani: Azəri-Çıraq-Günəşli) or Azeri–Chirag–Deepwater Gunashli is a complex of oil fields in the Caspian Sea, about 120 kilometres (75 mi) off the coast of Azerbaijan. It consists of the Azeri and Chirag oil fields and the deepwater portion of the Gunashli oil field.
The Shah Deniz (SD) field was discovered in 1999. It is one of the world's largest gas-condensate fields. It is located on the deep water shelf of the Caspian Sea, 70 km south-east of Baku, in water depths ranging from 50 to 500 m.
