Iran's cement production capacity will be increased by 6.8 million tons to reach 82 million tons by late current calendar year, an official with the Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry Stated.
"The country's cement production capacity stood at 76.4 million tons in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19," Mohammad Fatemian added, the IRIB reported.
Over 10.4 million tons of cement was exported last year, he said, adding that the figure is projected to rise to 15 million tons this year.
Iran produced over 66.4 million tons of cement last year, showing 8-percent rise compared to the year before, IRNA News Agency reported.
Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mehdi Ghazanfari has announced that the country's current cement production capacity stands at 74 million tons. Ghazanfari added that the figure will reach 110 million tons by 2015.
