Turkish state company supplies 290 tons of wheat to Azerbaijan

Turkish General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) exported 290 tons of wheat to Azerbaijan in January - September 2012, the TİGEM report, published on its website on Monday, stated.

During this period, the largest volume of exports was carried out to Sudan - 9.3 thousand tons, 150 tons of wheat were delivered to Libya.

The company's profit from the export of agricultural products reached 50 million liras during this period, compared to 30.1 million liras during 2011.

According to statistical data of Azerbaijani Customs Service, in January-September 2012, Azerbaijan imported wheat worth $172.9 million compared to $195.7 million in the same period of 2011.

Azerbaijan also imports grain from Russia and Kazakhstan.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in early November the harvesting volume of grains, except maize, exceeded 2.619 million tons in Azerbaijan in a crop area of 994,700 hectares. The yield per hectare reached 26.3 quintals.

Maize production reached 181.100 tons from an area of 35.3 hectares. The harvest of grains and legumes increased by 1.8 quintals, reaching 2.8 million tons. The annual demand in food grain amounts to about 1.6 million tons in Azerbaijan.
