Turkish Gentes Yapi ve Endustry Tesisleri Ltd Sti company will be building a large logistics complex in Uzbekistan.
The agreement on the construction of the complex was signed during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Turkey, Podrobno.uz reported.
“The complex will deal with storing and supply of agricultural products. The equipment will include 125 refrigerating containers and 75 warehouses for several products. The loading and unloading areas are also expected to function on the territory of the complex. The Turkish side will also supply modern packaging equipment,” said the report.
The parties will start the detailed projecting after the Turkish company’s visit to Uzbekistan in November. The representatives of the Turkish company intend to organize the supply of their equipment to Uzbekistan, for the cultivation and processing of fruits.
The complex will primarily focus on the supply of fresh and processed agricultural products to the CIS countries, in particular, to Russia.
The volume of gross output of the agrarian sector in Uzbekistan reached 47.4 trillion s’om in 2016. Totally, the country produced 8.2 million tons of grain, 2.9 million tons of potatoes, 11.2 million tons of vegetables and over 3 million tons of fruits and berries.
Russia and Kazakhstan are the main markets for the Uzbek fruit and vegetables.
