By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

The first bulk consignments of fresh apple from Iran entered Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the information portal on fruit and vegetable markets on the east of the European Union - Eastfruit.

The small wholesale price for Iranian apples at wholesale markets of Tashkent does not exceed $1 per kg with relatively high quality indicators, which makes it possible to sell products well. At the same time, Uzbek producers are not in a hurry to sell their own apples, expecting further price increases.

Trial deliveries of Iranian apples turned out to be quite successful, because prices and quality for products are at a competitive level.

Moreover, the supply of unexpensive apples from China to Uzbekistan has increased.

Due to the ban on apple deliveries from China to Russia and good apple harvests in China in 2019, Chinese exporters have the opportunity to supply products to Uzbekistan at very competitive prices.

China is the world's largest exporter of fresh apples, and Iran is one of the ten world leaders in apple exports. Iran annually exports from 400,000 to 600,000 tons of apples, while China - up to 1.3 million tons.

The main apple markets for Iran are Iraq and Afghanistan. Significant volumes of Iranian apples are also shipped to Russia, Turkmenistan, the UAE and Pakistan. It seems that this season, Uzbekistan will become an important market for apples from Iran as well.
