By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:
Kazakhstan’s coal extracting venture – Bogatyr Coal – will increase the production capacity of the Bogatyr mine, Trend reports with reference to the Samruk-Energy company.
Currently, the Bogatyr Coal company is implementing a ‘cyclic-continuous technology of coal mining at the Bogatyr open-pit mine’ project, which is to be finished in 1Q2022. Taking into account the expected temporary decrease in coal shipments in summer 2020, Bogatyr Coal LLP plans to ship out 42 million tons of coal in 2020, which meets the design capacity of the company.
Following the project’s implementation, the capacity of the venture will be 50 million tons of coal a year, which will meet current and prospective demand of Kazakhstan’s power plants in coal.
The project provides for the introduction of an auto-conveyor technology for coal mining, which will increase the production capacity of the Bogatyr mine. The need for the change in coal mining technology is related to reaching the depth at which the existing railway coal transportation is inefficient, and the main mining transportation equipment has exhausted its resource and needs updating.
Construction and installation works of conveyor overpasses are planned for May-August 2020, as well as the dismantling of two coal railway sections for cyclic-continuous technology facilities. This will lead to temporary decrease in mine’s production capacity by 30 percent in May-August, and by 10 percent in September-December.
Balance reserves of Bogatyr Coal LLP are 2.75 billion tons. The production capacity of the venture is 42 million tons of coal per year.
