The volume of trade turnover in Baku dropped by 0.1 percent from January through September 2020 compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 15.5 billion manat ($9.11 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
The committee said the volume of food, drinks, and tobacco products sold during this period in the trading network in the capital increased by 11.5 percent year on year and surpassed 8 billion manat ($4.7 billion).
At the same time, the volume of sales of non-food products decreased by 9.2 percent and amounted to 7.5 billion manat ($4.41 billion).
According to the committee, 30.9 percent of consumer products were sold in legal entities, 49.4 percent – in trade facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs, and 19.7 percent - in the stores of Baku.
The volume of trade turnover in Baku in 2019 increased by 4.2 percent compared to 2018, reaching 22.2 billion manat ($13 billion). The volume of food, beverages, and tobacco products sold in the trading network in the capital rose by 0.8 percent over the year and totaled over 10.5 billion manat ($6.17 billion). The volume of sales of non-food products increased by 7.7 percent and amounted to 11.6 billion manat ($6.82 billion).
